Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Nashville Pelvic Health different?
As more and more people realize how beneficial pelvic floor therapy can be, many clinics are starting to offer pelvic floor therapy as an add-on service. Although we are thrilled to see our specialty growing, unfortunately this means there are a lot of therapists out there ‘dabbling’ in pelvic floor therapy without much training or support. Our therapists have devoted their careers and their continuing education to helping patients with pelvic health concerns.
Do I need a physician referral?
No! You do not need a referral from your doctor to come see us. When you’ve finally made the decision to start pelvic floor therapy, the last thing you want to do is call your doctor and jump through the hoops to get a referral. You can call and schedule directly with us. We will communicate with your physician(s) regarding your care at our clinic so everyone is on the same page about your progress and your doctor is in the loop.
I’ve seen a pelvic floor therapist before and it didn’t help, is it still worth coming?
Absolutely! There is a wide range of skill level and experience of pelvic floor therapists. Some therapists only dabble in treating pelvic floor conditions, but at our clinic that is our entire focus. Our therapists focus all their continuing education, mentoring, and professional development on furthering their knowledge in pelvic health to be able to better serve our patients. When you see one of our therapists, you will get the collective brainpower of our entire team.
I’m nervous to start pelvic floor therapy. What should I expect?
First off- that’s totally normal! Keep in mind that instead of just being an add-on service, we are entirely focused on serving pelvic health patients here at our clinic. Our space is designed to be comfortable and private. We know that pelvic health concerns often affect areas of our life that we don’t talk about a lot. We spend our days discussing patients’ concerns around bladder and bowel function, sexual health, chronic pelvic pain, and the joys and fears around pregnancy and postpartum. Believe us when we say we have heard it all, and we are here to create a safe space for you to get help. Our therapists truly care about the well-being of our patients and want to help you meet your goals, whatever they may be.
“I love Nashville Pelvic Health! The whole staff is so welcoming and inclusive. I felt holistically cared for and listened to throughout my entire experience. For anyone nervous to go to pelvic floor therapy, I highly recommend!”
